To connect the Evaluation Softphone with your RingCentral service, you need the following information from Ring Central (aka your SIP credentials).

– SIP Domain
– Outbound Proxy
– User Name
– Password
– Authorization ID

Follow our guide below to get this information or use the RingCentral instructions.

Our guide:

1. Select Phone System in the top left corner.
2. Select Phones & Devices in the bottom left corner.
3. Click on User Phones from the center column.
4. Select a device under the extension you want to configure.
5. Look for the “Setup and Provision” option on the right hand side.
– If you do not see this option, select Change Phone option on the right hand side.

– Select Phone not purchased from RingCentral
– Continue past the E911 window.
6. Select Other Phone on the provisioning step.

Configure the Softphone

Now you have all the info you need!

– SIP Domain
– Outbound Proxy
– User Name
– Password
– Authorization ID
– extension

In the softphone, click on the gear icon and select “Accounts”. Click the Add button at the bottom.

Do NOT select RingCentral.

Select SIP (Use if VoIP Provider isn’t below).


Enter your SIP id: <User Name>*<extension>@<SIP Domain>

This looks like: 14155991160*

and Password: <Password>

and click Add.

Adjust the advanced settings for RingCentral connections.

– Select the new Account and click Edit.
– Open the Connection Tab.
– Enter the Authorization name. This is your RingCentral Authorization ID.
– Uncheck “Configure proxy automatically”.
– Enter your Outbound Proxy, but leave off the colon and add the last 4 #s to the port field as shown below.
– Change the Preferred transport to TCP.
– Change the Keep alive method to REGISTER.
– Click on the Encodings tab.
– Select Override Global Encodings Settings
– Uncheck all encodings except PCMU/8000.
